At Hersill, we wanted to celebrate our 50th anniversary in style, because it was a way to pay tribute to the efforts of all the people who have helped make happen what the company it is today, because we wanted tho share our pride in what we have been bringing to healthcare professionals and patients, and because it meant a push for us to move forward.
We chose an emblematic place of the city of Madrid, Casa America - Palacio de Linares, where we organized an event to which we wanted collaborators and revelant people from the health sector to accompany us. The call was a success, as we even had to close the attendance register days earlier because we had more than covered the expected capacity.
We counted on interventions by authorities such as the Councillor of Health of the Community of Madrid, Fatima Matute, and Ana Pastor, Congresswoman and Executive Secretary of Health of the Popular Party. The head of the Department of Institutional Promotion and Territorial Cooperation of the Center for Technological Development and Innovation (CDTI) delivered a lecture and Juan Abarca, president of the IDIS Foundation (Institute for Development and Integration of Health), moderated a panel discussion attended by Cristobal Belda, Director of the Carlos III Health Institute (ISCIII); Margarita Alfonsel, Secretary General of the Spanish Federation of Health Technology Companies (Fenin); Carmen Pantoja, Managing Director of the Hospital Universitario Infanta Leonor de Madrid; and Mercedes Suria, Head of Manufacturing and Importation Facilities and Foreign Trade of Medical Device at the Spanish Agency for Medicines and Health Products (AEMPS)
We are committed to art as a vehicle to highlight the evolution and contribution of Hersill throughout our career. In the same amphitheatre where the event took place, we hosted the exhibition 'Ideas that live', which showed a tour of the company's significant medical devices and their contribution during the COVID-19 pandemic.
To this end, a painting was also displayed that pays homage to all those who helped during this health crisis, through the image of a health professional holding a Vitae 40 showing herself smiling at the possibility that thanks to this device her patient will survive.
The exhibition also featured the sculpture 'Break', by artist Rana Tarhangil, made with recycled material and based on the Hersill logo, which represents, on the one hand, human, lungs and heart, symbols of life, and, on the other hand, a forest that symbolizes the breathing of the planet.
In the course of the event entitled 'Spanish Medical Technology, the Challenges of an Essential Sector', it was very gratifying to see how the speeches of the participants very much in line with what we at Hersill advocate: the need to boost the Spanish healthcare technology industry, so that it can continue to contribute to the healthcare system and in economic, production and employment terms. This was stated by the representatives of the Health Administration, the medical technology sector and managers.
The event had the collaboration of the EFE Agency, the NGO Musicians for Health, the communication consultancy Alabra and the branding art company Mercarte. Particularly moving was the moment when the music therapist os Musicians for Health performed the song 'The Melody of Life', composed specifically for the 50th anniversary, which is based on the real sound of the heartbeats and breathing of Hersill employees.
