The V Symposium of Health Observatory of El Español has once again brought together the different actors of the health system to discuss the present and future of Health. In the first of the three days, a round table has been held that has brought together the main employers of the sector to offer the vision of the national industry on the concept of the EU ‘Open Strategic Autonomy’, which involves multilateral cooperation and acting autonomously as necessary.

Oscar Martinez Jordan, manager of HERSILL, participated in the debate as a partner of Fenin (Spanish Federation of Companies of Health Technology) and on behalf of this entity. He highlighted the need to support the industrialization of health technology in Spain, which will ensure that products reach patients.

He believes that the impetus of the manufacturing of health technology in Spain requires an appropriate breeding ground, in which the country’s industrial capacities are increased, R&D is committed and collaboration between industry and administration is encouraged. Other drivers for the progress of the sector are the promotion of training and the retention of talent. One of the obstacles to overcome, in his opinion, is the over-regulated environment, which reduces the competitiveness of the sector.

The panel also included Jaume Pey, Director General of the Association for Health Self-Care (Anefp), Javier Urzay, Deputy Director General of FarmaIndustria, Ion Arocena, Director General of the Spanish Association of Bioenterprises (AseBio) and Angel Luis Rodriguez de la Corda, Secretary General of the Spanish Association of Generic Medicines (AESEG).

In the 5th Symposium of Health Observatory of El Espanol, which will take place until October 3, will have the participation of top representatives of the Administration, the main companies of the sector and health associations of our country, as well as outstanding specialists of the sector.
