The Atabal Foundation for Development Cooperation has been working since 2001 and develops its projects mainly in Sierra Leone, one of the most impoverished and underprivileged countries in the world, carrying out projects in the areas of health, education, employment, gender and protection of children at risk, among others.
The Poor Clares, who run various education and health projects in several localities in Sierra Leone, with the intention of offering accommodation to aid workers travelling to Sierra Leone, bought a house. A few months ago when members of the Atabal Foundation visited this house and saw the deficiencies and hardships they suffered, without electricity and having to carry water to the rooms. That is why they decided to seek support to help them, on the one hand they commissioned the project and implementation of a photovoltaic installation to the Eki Foundation, for the amount of 17,000 euros, and on the other hand, looking for new donors.
Thanks to Hersill, the installation of the photovoltaic system to meet the electrical needs of the centre is a reality and they now have electricity 24 hours a day. They have also bought a pump to draw water from the well and supply running water to the rooms. Computers and mobile phones can now be used and charged at any time, something that was not possible recently.
