On 18 February, the company HERSILL staged a recognition ceremony that the humanitarian organization held at its premises.
The company already made a donation of 5,000€ last year as part of the Red Cross Mostoles Plan RESPONDE, to support the food benefits that were given to the users of the project. These benefits consisted of fresh produce vouchers provided by local companies.
During the event, a visit to the facilities was made, a video showing all the Red Cross activity was shown and a global activity report and a particular one from the RESPONDE plan was presented. For the Red Cross, transparency and accountability are very important for its partners and collaborators and, therefore, their contact information is available to anyone who wants it.
In Mostoles alone, Plan RESPONDE has assisted 2,578 people with a total of 5,638 interventions aimed at preventing health risks and alleviating the social and economic difficulties arising from the crisis. The pandemic situation is having a greater impact on people in a vulnerable situation because it is found that it not only tests our immune system, but also our model of social cohesion.
The Red Cross strengthened all its emergency response mechanisms, including health, social inclusion, education and the environment, with actions such as covering basic needs, distributing food products, housing expenses (rent, electricity, water, etc.), medication, hygiene products, household cleaning, information and disease prevention agendas, telephone monitoring, provision of basic health supplies and infrastructure building. temporary hospitals, employment counselling, information and support in the management of unemployment benefits, training and job search, access to socio-occupational resources. It also aims to reduce the digital divide for the elderly (loneliness) and minors by providing technological resources, educational and emotional support, psychosocial support, school support and play tools for minors, rehabilitation and repairs to homes (energy saving and acclimatization), and other actions available to citizens and public administrations.
In short, the objective has been and is to cover basic needs when the situation requires it or is urgent, and to provide those who need it with social, educational and employment responses, further strengthening those related to health management.
At the end of the event, the Head of Marketing and Communication, Mayte Urizar, reaffirmed the company’s commitment to its nearest community, committing to make a new donation for the same amount that this year will go to the project “Urgent Attention to Basic Needs”, where it works with people in situations of extreme vulnerability through guidance and training, but also with benefits for products and services. of first necessity.
The Eighth Report on Social Exclusion and Development in Spain of the FOESSA Foundation of 2019 confirms the consolidation of the signs of inequality in our society, with a still very large group in exclusion (18.4%) and significantly higher in terms of the most severe exclusion than in 2007 (8.8% vs 6.3%). These figures can be seen from the data of the 2021 project, which served 471 people directly but also had a total of 568 indirect beneficiaries.
HERSILL is a solidary company that also collaborates with national and international organizations. With these donations to Red Cross Mostoles satisfies its concern to be able to collaborate directly with vulnerable groups in this city.
