On May 12, the company HERSILL handed over to Cruz Roja Mostoles a donation of 5,000 € for the Red Cross RESPONDE Plan in front of COVID-19.
HERSILL is a solidarity company that collaborates with national and international organizations, but was concerned to be able to collaborate directly with vulnerable groups in your city and therefore decided to make this donation to the humanitarian organization.
Through the Red Cross RESPONDE Plan, it has been possible to provide support in 2020 to more than 4 million people across the country who are vulnerable in one way or another by the pandemic, many times affecting their quality of life, and to more than 700 million people around the world through the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement.
This project is aimed primarily at vulnerable people who lack the financial resources to cover their basic needs and all those who, because of their vulnerability, need this assistance.
The Red Cross has taken action to prevent health risks and alleviate the social and economic difficulties arising from the crisis. These difficulties are having a greater impact on people in vulnerable situations. This pandemic is testing not only our immune system, but also our model of social cohesion.
The Red Cross strengthened all its emergency response mechanisms, including health, social inclusion, education and the environment, with actions such as covering basic needs such as the distribution of food, housing costs (rent, electricity, water, etc.), medication, hygiene products, household cleaning, information and disease prevention programmes, telephone monitoring, provision of basic health supplies, infrastructure building temporary hospital services, advice in the area of employment, informing and supporting them in the management of unemployment benefits, training and job search, access to socio-occupational resources, reducing the digital divide for the elderly (solitude) and minors by offering technological resources, educational and emotional support, psychosocial support, school support and play tools for minors, rehabilitation and reparations housing (energy saving and acclimatization), and other actions available to the public.
The aim is, therefore, to cover basic needs when the situation requires it or is urgent, and to provide those who need it with social, educational and employment responses, further strengthening those linked to health management.
This project is guided by the following methodological principles for its proper implementation: complementarity, flexibility, commitment and participation of the individual and participation of volunteers.
In the Community of Madrid, care has reached more than 266,000 people, of whom 4,888 live in Mostoles. In this way, it has been able to provide more than 3.2 million responses, 16,858 corresponding to this locality.
All this work has been made possible by the involvement of 11,375 volunteers, 60 per cent of whom are women. In Mostoles, 341 volunteers have provided their service and have done 20,958 hours of volunteering.
In view of the prolonged state of alarm in our country due to successive waves and despite the adoption of measures to mitigate the effects of the economic crisis, the Red Cross considers it necessary to continue its intervention under the Red Cross Responde Plan throughout 2021, adapting the responses to the changing needs of people and the environment.
