For Hersill, it is essential to contribute and participate in the construction of a just and supportive society in which all people have their basic needs covered, supporting the incorporation of people into social life, betting on local and national commerce.
Hersill’s donation for this campaign has been earmarked for food aid, which, according to the organization, “has all been spent in the city of Mostoles and a large majority on local businesses. In this way, Hersill has not only supported people in extremely vulnerable situations, but has also contributed to the development of the local economy.”
According to the Red Cross, the aim of this continuity project is to alleviate the situation of vulnerability of the persons participating in it. To this end, the Red Cross in the Community of Madrid offers comprehensive care, ranging from individual intervention to group intervention, incorporating the provision of assistance to cover the basic needs of the persons assisted.
Hersill’s donation has gone entirely towards the purchase of food through economic deliveries. These deliveries are made by bank transfer or cheque and the user must justify the amount spent by presenting the purchase ticket.
This method, the Red Cross points out, promotes personal autonomy, in addition to boosting self-esteem by receiving the trust of the institution and the responsibility to make responsible spending. Sometimes deliveries are accompanied by workshops on healthy eating and efficient purchasing.
The users who have received the aid belong to the city of Móstoles so the purchases have all taken place in the city, many of them in small shops. In this way, the donation has a direct impact on the movement of the local economy.
A total of 387 people were assisted and a total of 418 benefits were provided, including workshops and guidance, which have been able to improve their situation of social exclusion and contribute to their social and employment inclusion.
