In an increasingly challenging global context, solidarity becomes a fundamental pillar to build a more just and equitable society. At Hersill, we understand that our responsibility as a company is not only limited to manufacturing and distributing state-of-the-art medical equipment, but also extends to our commitment to the community.
For the past five years, we have annually renewed our collaboration with the Red Cross Móstoles, a major humanitarian entity in the city, through a donation of € 5,000 for the development of the project “Urgent Attention to Basic Needs.” This project seeks to alleviate the situation of vulnerability of thousands of people in our community, providing them with financial support to cover basic needs such as food.
The economic and social crisis of recent years has increased the vulnerability of many families, up 54% between 2023 and 2024, according to Red Cross data. In the face of this reality, our aid goes beyond economic contribution; it becomes an opportunity to improve the quality of life of the most disadvantaged people, allowing them access to food and other essential resources.
In 2024, this aid was allocated entirely to the purchase of food, generating a positive impact not only on the beneficiaries, but also on the local economy, by making purchases in small shops in Móstoles. This action reflects our future commitment to the well-being of our city’s families and boosting the local economy by doing the right things.
Hersill’s relationship with the Red Cross is not just an act of one-off generosity, but an ongoing collaboration that also materialises in other charitable actions throughout the year, such as the Christmas lottery purchase. Through these actions, we seek to make a real difference in the lives of those most in need, helping more people to get out of situations of extreme vulnerability and regain control over their future.
Support for vulnerable people
Solidarity is a value that defines us. In an increasingly challenging global context, we have seen how situations of vulnerability increase with each passing year. Against this backdrop, the work of organisations such as the Red Cross becomes more crucial than ever. Thanks to this project, thousands of people in emergency situations can access the basic needs that guarantee their well-being, such as food, shelter and comprehensive care. The Red Cross’s local and close approach, based on mutual support and proximity, enables these responses to be fast, effective and truly transformational.
In 2024, the Red Cross served more than 8,500 people in its total projects, with 440 users specifically served through the “Urgent Attention to Basic Needs’ project. Of these, a total of 403 were financial assistance, of which 188 were for food. This project, which has responded to thousands of situations of extreme vulnerability, remains the first line of response in times of crisis, serving as the basis for other, more intensive intervention plans.
The direct impact on the local community
Hersill’s donation not only impacts those who receive it directly, but also benefits the local economy. In 2024, the aid will go entirely to the purchase of food, facilitating access to essential products for vulnerable families.
In addition, on many occasions, this aid is accompanied by workshops on healthy eating and efficient shopping, ensuring that families not only receive what they need, but also learn how to better manage their resources. All this is also done in local shops, creating a virtuous circle that benefits both the beneficiaries and the community of Móstoles.
This support model also puts a value on local proximity, a concept on which the Red Cross bases its actions to respond to people’s needs from their nearest environment, with the active participation of volunteers. This approach is not only more effective, but also makes aid reach more humanely and personally to those who need it most.

With the increase in vulnerability, especially in 2023 and 2024, the affected people need more than ever attention that not only provides them material aid, but also offers them a path to autonomy. This project goes beyond the delivery of food or economic aid: it offers accompaniment that seeks to enable people to regain their dignity and become owners of their future. The intervention of the Red Cross is aimed at transforming the lives of the beneficiaries, helping them to overcome crisis situations and seeking, through comprehensive care, to facilitate their social reintegration.
