We are collaborating again with the Food Bank of Madrid, and it is that last November 30th, we officially inaugurated a street at the headquarters of the Food Bank of Madrid, at the headquarters of the Colegio San Fernando. The streets are equivalent to “a shelf for storing food that the bank collects and distributes to charities that serve people in need. The street gives its name to a store shelf. Sponsoring these by contributing to the minimum operating costs of this foundation”, they report from the Food Bank.
The Food Bank is an entity with a fundamental role in our society. Its mission is to obtain and distribute food free of charge to charities, combat waste and raise awareness among children, adolescents and young people about social vulnerability, food shortages and the importance of their contribution to helping people in need.
The Food Bank of Madrid prevented the destruction of a total of 13.37 million kilos of food in 2021, recovering it from waste, reducing equivalent greenhouse gas emissions and promoting the environment. Know the figures Memoria 2021
In addition, La Gran Recogida 2022, an initiative with which we also collaborate, is also back, aimed at individuals and companies, to obtain 3,000,000 kg of food basket: children’s food, canned meat and fish, dried and canned legumes, oil, rice, sugar, flour, etc. that allow us to provide food security to all the people we serve and prevent the shortage of food. of such essential products in our warehouses. All the proceeds will be used to buy and distribute these staple foods free of charge.
From Hersill we are very excited about our collaboration and especially with this inauguration since it has been postponed due to the different waves of COVID-19, and it is that we have been collaborating and donating to the Food Bank for 3 years with a total contribution of 9,000 €. This year we have donated 1,000 € and we want to encourage our employees, customers, suppliers and anyone who can join to collaborate this cause.
